< Charge Conditions < How Charge Conditions Work

Navigation Admin > Services > Service Items > Charge Conditions

When you add a service to a Service Order or when you create a repeat service for a client, the charge conditions will be applied in the order in which they are listed under the Charge Conditions sub menu for that service item.

So, in the example shown in the screen shot below where your default charge for a 30 minute Home Visit for 1 dog is $20.00:

  • if the time is between 20:00 and 07:00, then the charge will be $25.00

  • if it is a public holiday, then the charge will be $30.00

  • if the client type is "Discount 10%" then the charge will be $18.00

  • if the client is of type "Discount 10%" and it is a public holiday, then the charge will be $27.00

  • if the client is of type "Discount 10%" and the time is between 20:00 and 07:00, then the charge will be $22.50

  • if the client is of type "Discount 10%" and it is after 20:00 hours but before 07:00, plus it is a public holiday, then the charge will be $31.50

  • if none of these conditions are met, then the client will be charged the default rate of $20.00.

The system applies these conditions in the order in which they are listed and stops as soon as a condition is met. So, in the example above, if a service is being scheduled for a client of type "Discount" for a 10pm visit which is set up in your calendar as a public holiday, then the first condition will be met and the conditions listed further down the list will not be applied.

For this reason, it is important to ensure your conditions are listed in the correct order so that you achieve the desired result. As a general rule, the more arguments that you have in your charge condition then the higher up the list the condition should be.

Example: Charge Conditions Applied to Days of the Week >

See this demonstration of how charge conditions can be applied to your services. For example, you might charge more for providing services at the weekend or on public holidays.

Example: Charge Conditions Applied to Diary Periods >

See this demonstration of how charge conditions can be applied to your services. For example, charges for services provided during the morning could be increased for the same service scheduled in the evening.

Example: Charge Conditions Applied to Time of Day >

See this demonstration of how charge conditions can be applied to your services. For example, you might charge more for providing services during the evening/night after 6:30 pm and before 7:00 am.

Example: Charge Conditions Applied to Client Types >

See this demonstration of how charge conditions can be applied to your services. For example, you might give a loyalty discount to certain clients.

Example: Charge Conditions Applied to Multiple Circumstances >

See this demonstration of how charge conditions can be applied to your services. For example, you might give a loyalty discount to certain clients yet charge them more on a public holiday for an evening dog walk.

So, in the above example, if the top charge condition If the client type is "Discount 10%" and it is a public holiday and the time is between 20:00 and 07:00, then the charge will be $31.50 were listed last and you scheduled the service for a client of type "Discount 10%" on a public holiday then, applying the conditions in the new order, the system would reach the condition If it is a public holiday, then the charge will be $30.00 and find this condition to be true and stop checking the remaining charge conditions on the list. So, even if the client is of type "Discount 10%" and the visit is between 20:00 and 07:00, the charge will be $30.00 when it should be $31.50.

Using the options to the right of each charge condition, you can:

  • move up - move a charge condition up the list so it is applied before the charge conditions below it.

  • move down - move a charge condition down the list so it is applied after the charge conditions above it.

  • edit - change the information in a charge condition, such as the amount charged.

  • delete - delete the charge condition.
