Worked Example: How to Add a Charge Condition that applies to Client Types

 

A pet sitting company charges $12.00 for a 20 minute dog walk but offers a 10% discount for clients who are regular users of their services, so the charge should be $10.80.
 

To automatically apply the lower charge rate of $10.80 to a subset of clients, set up a client type and apply it to any client that should be charged the lower amount (see Adding a client type to a client record for more information). The client type is then used to create a charge condition (see instructions below) which is applied to, in this case, a dog walking service. The result is that the subset of clients (belonging to the client type) will automatically be charged at the lower rate.
 

There are three parts to this process;

  • First create your client type if not already set up 

  • Next create your charge condition by following the directions below

  • Finally, apply your client type to any client who should be receiving the discounted rate.

ON DESKTOP:

Navigate to Admin > Services > Service Items > Charge Conditions

STEP 1
  • Click the service item you wish to edit.

  • Click "Charge Conditions" from the menu.

  • Then click "Add a New Condition".

  • Select "the client type is" in the left hand drop down menu

  • Select "Discount 10%" from the second drop down menu

  • Type "10.80" in the box labelled "Then charge"

  • Click "Add".

This has created a rule which you can now see on the Charge Conditions list for this service item. This rule will automatically charge $10.80 for any 20 minute dog walk that you schedule for a client who has had the client type Discount 10% applied to their client record.

This example where the charge conditions are applied to client types apply to the following "If" statements:

 

  • If client type is - any existing client types can be selected from the drop down menu. However, if there isn't a client type that fits your pricing policy, you will need to create a new one and then apply it to any clients you want to charge the particular price to.

ON MOBILE:

  • Tap the Navigator, and select Admin > Services > Service Items > Charge Conditions

STEP 2

  • Tap the service you wish to edit.
